Dr Craig Miller BSc (Hons) BVMS - Veterinarian

Craig grew up in Western Australia and originally studied biology and biochemistry. After several years involved in research, he began his veterinary studies at Murdoch University in Perth. After graduating in 1993, Craig moved to Bendigo and mixed animal veterinary practice. It was there that he met his wife, Desley. In 1996 Craig joined us at Carlton, where he is now a partner and senior vet. Craig's main area of interest is canine and feline medicine. Craig and Desley have a son, Macalister, a daughter, Matisse and also a boisterous greyhound cross, Nelson. Outside work Craig enjoys renovating his home, gardening and is a rabid supporter of the St Kilda Saints.

Dr Sondhya Basak - Veterinarian

Dr Sondhya joined the Carlton Veterinary Surgery team early January 2010. She moved to Melbourne from her home town of Whitley Bay, a small coastal town of north east England, in 2004. In 2008, she graduated from Melbourne University. Sondhya loves working with animals and enjoys working in both the medical and surgical departments. She hopes to expand her knowledge of smaller exotics pets.

Sondhya shares her time with her partner Dave, her two dogs, Tammy and Tess, and her cat Daisy. She has helped raise and foster many abandoned animals, taking in four newborn kittens only days after joining our clinic. Outside of work she enjoys good food and wine, and recreational sports including badminton and cycling.

Stacey Anderson ACVN - Head Veterinary Nurse

Stacey has been working as a Veterinary Nurse since she was 15, completing her Advanced Certificate of Veterinary Nursing in 1997. Stacey grew up with a multitude of animals as her parents breed greyhounds and own a boarding kennel. Stacey's special interests areas are emergency and critical care nursing in which she has gained extensive experience from her work in the Animal Emergency Centre at Melbourne University. Stacey lives with her husband Luke, daughter ‘Riley' and ‘Maggie' the dainty Dalmatian.

Emma Sutton - Veterinary Nurse

Emma is new to Carlton Vet Clinic, having recently moved from WA, where she worked in a small country practice. Emma lives in Brunswick with her husband and her two gorgeous Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, 'Charlotte' and 'Noah'. She is enjoying living here and introducing her dogs to city life. Emma is excited to be opening a Weight Loss Clinic for pets at our clinic, as she enjoys customer service and enjoys helping people understand the importance of health care and the best care for their pets.

Natalie Aitken - Veterinary Nurse

Natalie has been working as a Vet Nurse for six years. She has been with us since December; before that she had locumed on and off to fill any shifts. Her special interests are nursing for birds and geriatric patients. Natalie is also a licensed Wildlife Carer, so her pets are a little more exotic than the usual cat and dog.

She has a Domestic Short Hair called "Luce", a Green-Cheeked Conure called "Leela" and a Blue Tongue Lizard, who is always grumpy!

In her spare time Natalie enjoys socialising with her friends.

Chiara - Puppy Pre-School Instructor

My name is Chiara and I have worked with dogs for many years in both the training industry and veterinary industry. I believe all dogs need to learn basic skills so they can be enjoyed within the family as well as be accepted in the community. All handling and training us based on Positive Reinforcement methods, so I use lots of praise, treats, games and attention. This method has been scientifically backed and proven to be most effective.

In my classes both obedience and lifestyle skills are taught and training is practical. You will learn how to be a good and fair leader, build on the relationship, work on some basic skills and most of all have fun whilst doing so.

I am an accredited Delta Instructor, member of the Delta Society, member of the Australian Pet Dog Trainers Assoc. as well as a qualified veterinary nurse.

Melissa Horwood - Trainee Nurse

Melissa lives at the bottom of the Macedon Ranges with four cats (Kalee, Chelby, Bounce, and Burnout), two Border Collie's (Patch and Zoe), and two rats (Jay and Silent Bob). She has always had a passion for all creatures, although admits to having a soft spot for cats. Since completing her VCE last year, Melissa has been studying Certificate II in animal studies as part of her Veterinary Nursing Course. Melissa and her family breed Border Collie's. Melissa also enjoys spending time with her dogs while helping out at the Gisborne and district obedience club.

Kofi our Clinic Cat

Meet one of our best friends Kofi, he keeps us company at the clinic and enjoys lots of hugs from both our team and our clients.
