A constipated Arabella

Arabella's owners were very concerned when they noticed she had been vomiting, not eating and possibly constipated. They brought Arabella to the clinic for examination. Dr Craig examined Arabella and found that she was dehydrated and slightly constipated, but no other discomforts were located. Arabella remained at our hospital for the rest of the day on intravenous fluid therapy and was also given a mini enema.

Delphi's cystotomy

Delphi is a 4 year old British short haired cat who has a history of cystitis (bladder inflammation). Delphi's owners brought him to the clinic to get an x-ray of his bladder. Three stones about 1mm to 2mm in diameter were discovered and would need to be removed. A surgery day was scheduled for Delphi.

Show 'em your pearly whites Otto!

Meet Otto, a gorgeous male domestic short hair. Otto had a mysterious start to life. He was rescued by the Lost Dogs Home in North Melbourne and then adopted by his new owners. Otto's caring and observant owners noticed that he had some staining on his teeth so booked an appointment at our clinic for a dental.

Allergies can't stand in the way of love

Fenrir and Fantine's owners love and adore their magnificent boy and gorgeous girl but they suffer from allergies when the two cats start to moult. Fenrir is a ginger Norwegian Forest cat. In Norse mythology, Fenrir is a gigantic wolf. Fantine is a tortoise shell domestic long-haired cat. In French, Fantine means child-like. To overcome their allergies, Fenrir and Fantine's owners bring them to us for their annual groom.

Brave Tony

Tony is a 2 year old domestic long haired tabby cat who was presented to us looking lame and lethargic. Three days earlier he was in a cat fight where he had sustained a wound on the thigh of his left leg. Although the wound had started to heal, there was still significant swelling under the wound and evidence of puss within the swollen area. Unfortunately for Tony, he had a cat fight abscess. This required him to be put under anaesthetic to have it cleaned out and a drain put in.

Kofi-Annan has retired!

Kofi-Annan, our beloved clinic mascot, has retired to a life of luxury. Kofi has been with Dr Craig Miller at Carlton Veterinary Surgery for about 10 years and in that time has become the well loved face of our clinic. He will be dearly missed around here. We will miss his little quirks and all. His favorite of all his funny little habits was spying on staff and jumping from the cages onto their shoulder as they walked past.

Amy gets a shorter tail

Amy is a gorgeous eight and a half year old Persian who lives with her parents Carolyn and David. Normally living a life of luxury Amy rarely gets into any kind of trouble. However, one night David noticed she didn't look very comfortable. On close inspection it appeared that Amy had severely hurt her tail. Her owners had not seen what had happened to cause the injury but it was suspected that her tail may had been caught in a door.

Tamara battles anorexia

Tamara, the gorgeous domestic short hair cat, was rescued through Victorian Dog Rescue. A couple of months ago her foster carer had noticed she had lost some weight and was off her food. When brought into the clinic it was clear something was wrong. Her coat condition was poor and she was dehydrated. Tamara was admitted to the hospital and a full check up including blood tests was performed.

Black Saturday... a year on

It has been just over a year now since the awful tragedy that was 'Black Saturday'. We have been following the story of a special little ginger boy 'Marmalade' who was a surviving burn victim of the fires. Now a year on we are happy to report that he couldn't be doing better.

Pearl gets cat bite abscess

One of the common problems we find with cats that are allowed outside is cat bite abscesses. They occur quite often, generally caused by fighting. When one cat bites another it transfers the bacteria from the mouth into the wound. The bacteria can enter through a punctured wound or graze. One of our lovely little patients, Pearl, visited our clinic recently for just this problem.
